Training Services offer courses covering all aspects of design, installation, configuration, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of DZS product. Training provides the knowledge and hands-on experience required to install and manage DZS products. Classes are divided into laboratory and classroom lecture sessions, and can be provided at  DZS’ facilities or at the customer’s site.

MXK Training

This is a 5 day course that focuses on DZS GPON and Active Ethernet products. The course provides a high level overview of products and a working knowledge to engineer, install, and administer the MXK product and our ZMS network manager. The course assumes a working knowledge of fiber optic installation and test and of L2/L3 local area network (LAN) applications. The course provides details on the operation and use of Optical Line Terminals (OLT) and Optical Network Terminals (ONT) in Fiber to the home (FTTH), Fiber to the Business (FTTB), and Passive Optical LAN applications. Though the applications are somewhat different, OAM&P functions of the product in each application is the same. Products covered include the MXK (194/198/319/819/823). One day access to the training lab is provided for students who require additional hands on and would like to continue working with the training instructor.

Training Details

Prerequisite:
Basic understanding of packet switching principles.  Students should be familiar with IP and bridging.

  • Student must bring laptop computer, with a serial interface, to the class. Java 7, or higher, should be loaded on the laptop computer

Description:
The DZS MXK is a high-density multi-access line concentrator specifically developed to support both fiber and copper interfaces in a single access concentrator platform delivering any service to any subscriber over a single common infrastructure. This course will provide network operators and administrators with an understanding of its features and capabilities. Through a series of lectures and hands on exercises, students will be able to configure, provision, administer, and troubleshoot the MXK.

ZMS management is a java-based suite of client and server applications designed to provide flexible network management of the DZS family of networking equipment. In this course, students will be introduced to the various components of ZMS system. The associated functionality of each component will be discussed. Some of the activities in this course include monitoring of objects, provisioning of resources, managing of faults and network performance assessment.

Note:
45-day advance registration and a hardcopy PO are required to guarantee seat & class availability. If a PO is issued less than 45 days prior to the start date of the class, no discount is offered. DZS requires a minimum of three (3) students to conduct a course in Oakland, CA. If this minimum is not met, 30 days prior to the start of the class, the class is subject to cancellation. Off site courses requires a minimum of 5 students.  Student minimum/maximum for customer on-site courses are negotiated.

*For customer on-site courses, DZS and Customer must mutually agree in advance to a training schedule & content to be delivered.

If you need to cancel and you’ve been confirmed by providing a hardcopy PO, here are the cancellation fees:

  • Cancellation occurs 60 to 45 days prior to the first day of class – hardcopy PO will be billed for 25% of cost of class
  • Cancellation occurs 44 days to the first day of class – hardcopy PO will be billed for 50% of cost for class.

MXK Fiber LAN Training

This is a 5 day training course that focuses exclusively on EF&I of GPON and Active Ethernet for delivery of high density Optical LAN solutions to multi-unit commercial and industrial business complexes including hotels, apartment complexes, malls, campus networks, etc. The course assumes a working knowledge of fiber optic installation and test of L2/L3 Local Area Network (LAN) applications. The course provides details on the OAM&P of Optical Line Terminals (OLT) and Optical Network Terminals (ONT) deployed as part of an enterprise/private network. The DZS FiberLAN product family includes the MXK 194/198/319/819/823 and an array of GPON ONT/CPE options that can be deployed indoors and outdoors. Customers requiring detail information related to EF&I of GPON in a private passive optical network should attend this training course, otherwise we recommend the standard MXK training course.

DZS certified fiberlan technician (ZCFT)

This module is combined with the MXK FiberLAN training course and is for individuals who wish to sit through an exam at the end of the MXK FiberLAN training course. Certification assures that the technician has demonstrated a solid understanding of best practices used to install, commission, and to perform basic troubleshooting of a DZS’s optical network during the initial installation phase.

FiberLAN is our Passive Optical LAN solution offering a cost effective fiber alternative to copper for interconnecting broadband services to the end user.
